Indian Culture is the dawn of human
culture as it represents the oldest human civilization ever known to history.
Wintenitz a western critic has very rightly expressed, ‘If we wish to learn the
beginnings of our own culture, if we wish to understand Indo-European culture,
we must go to India.’ Indian culture which goes beyond body and mind and unfold
the mystery of the soul could not be destroyed by invasions, earthquakes or
wars. We can be proud of rich cultural heritage in all walks of life. All, by
which the human soul is enlightened is inherited by us through the footprints of
our culture on the sands of time. The Vedas, the Upnishadas & Geeta, the Divine
songs are the fountain heads. The Ramayana and Mahabharata are the great epic
treasures of our cultural and morals values. Even in the modern world of science
and Technology, Indian culture is a living dynamic force. Indian culture is full
of all that is Satyam (Truth), Shivam (the good) & Sundaram (the beautiful). But
an area of interest which has been neglected so far is that of setting of
museums in India particularly in Haryana. This culture needs exhibitions in the
shape of Museums & Arts Galleries so that the new generation learns about it.
But it is most advise our ancient culture in the country as a whole and
especially in Haryana.
The city of Kurukshetra from where
the Lord Krishna gave his immortal message of Geeta to the Masses is situated in
this State, The area within the radius of 60 to 70 Km. Surrounding this holy
city has a number of famous pilgrimages. One of these famous places of
pilgrimages is KapalMochan which is situated at a distance of 25 Km. from Yamuna
Nagar, an industrial hub of the State. A fair held here every year on the
birthday of Guru Nanak Dev Ji when people from all walks of life irrespective of
their caste, creed and religion visit this famous place. It is a symbol of
national integration and unity of mankind.
It has a very famous ‘Sarovar’ known
as Rinmochan. It is believed that Lord Shiva got himself freed from the sin of
killing a Brahaman by taking bath into the holy water of the ‘Sarovar’. It is
another belief that the Pandavas after having won the Mahabharta visited this
place and washed their weapons in the holy water of this sarovar. Lord Rama
after killing Ravana reached this place and washed away his sins of killing a
Brahaman. The tenth Master of the Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh also visited this
place on his way from Poanta Sahib to Anandpur Sahib and made a 52 days stay at
this holy place. He gave prizes to all those bold and brave soldiers who fought
relentilessly in the battle of Bhangani sahib. He also punished those who had
been defiling the sanctity of the Sarovar Shri Rinmochan. Jawala Dass a Brahaman
who had been living at Kapal Mochana in those days narrated the history of this
place to the Guru. In turn the Guru issued a ‘Hukamnama to his Sikhs that
whosoever will donate generously to the Brahaman of this place will earn the
gratitude of the Guru. The Tenth Master of the Sikhs who created the KHALSA to
protect Hindu religion enthused a new spirit of courage, self-sacrifice and
service among the newly created KHALSA to protect Hinduism. He presented before
the World an exemplary casteless society by creating Panj Piaras from the
down-trodden people and making them share ‘Amrit’ from the same vessel. The
present chaotic time that has basis of language and religion need the preachings
of the Guru to be followed. Particularly, when we are entering the 21st
century. It becomes of us to enlighten our new generation about our rich and
bold ancient culture. Our saints, sages and warriors who sacrificed everything
and even laid down theirlives to enthuse a spirit of oneness, selflessness and
sacrifice among the masses, need to be remembered. Therefore, it will be a
befitting tribute to the memories of all those greatmen and ‘Rishis’ and
Saint-Soldier like Guru Gobind Singh if a Martial Art Museum is established at
Kapal Mochan exhibiting their historical sacrifices and history of this great
place and create awareness among the historical importance of Kapal Mochan the
holiest of the / holy places. This will also go a long way in bringing this
place on the map of the world for its historic importance.
